The creation of Make Peace with Organizing, LLC arose from a pivotal time in my life—a reflection on who I was and who I truly wanted to become. The haze of a painful divorce, a new relationship, and an inspiring Sunday morning television show became the foundation for the rest of my life.

My eight-year marriage had come to an inglorious end. My career as an attorney felt increasingly unfulfilling. Ten years of real estate closings and processing telecommunications’ agreements had run its course. But in June 2018, everything shifted. My “new light” (now husband) and I were watching CBS News Sunday Morning when a segment about professional organizers caught my attention. Something clicked. By the end of the program, I was at my computer researching everything I could find about the the National Association of Productivity and Organizing (NAPO). I discovered there was a local chapter near me. Without hesitation, I attended their next meeting, which happened to be the next day.
Shortly thereafter – with an initial business plan in-hand, Make Peace with Organizing had a clear vision.
For the summer of 2018 I pounded the pavement. I knocked on Realtors’ doors with a business card and pamphlet in-hand. I soon found myself organizing closets, kitchens, attics and decluttering basements. I joined networking groups; gave my pitch to anyone who would listen. Business grew; I built a presence on social media. I had more work than one person could handle.
Then Covid hit.
I continued to build a social media presence while sitting behind a desk in my living room joining even more networking groups, including membership in the Enterprise Group at Salem State University. Covid fueled networking opportunities. WBL, BNI, Chambers of Commerce …I was always that guest, a member, or someone who squeezed themselves into the next Zoom gathering.

I would be remiss not to mention, since it’s part of this journey, that Covid challenged my mental state. I never had Covid, but it still occupied much of my mind, building upon doubts and fears and uncertainty. I know I was not alone. Time passed and the focus on the goal at hand loosened the grip and helped launch Make Peace with Organizing post Covid, never to look back.

Building a business is much different than organizing a space in someone’s home; I had to travel another learning curve, all while making sure the brand stayed intact. We’ve expanded into move management, specializing in working with families when a loved one downsizes to a senior living community. Yup, another learning curve traveled. It’s a privilege to lead a company built on a foundation of compassion, care, and nonjudgment—one that positively impacts so many lives. Make Peace with Organizing is not just about clearing spaces or packing boxes—it’s about lifting burdens, reducing stress, and improving quality of life.
Today, our team of 17 has helped more than 800 clients.
The name of the company is a mantra. My story is about perseverance, determination, and a need for change.
